There’s not much baby left.  Every day it seems like another bit of toddler falls off.  He’s like a hard boiled egg…the big boy slowly emerging from tiny cracks and crevices in his shell.   And every time a little piece falls off…I find myself a teeny bit sad.  Don’t get me wrong.  I LOVE this stage (I say that every year).  But I just can’t get over how much my “baby” has grown up this year and try as I might…he’s just not gonna stay little forever.

Last week he had his preschool pictures.  I got him dressed in the morning and my breath caught a bit in my throat.  When did he get so stinkin’ cute?

“You are quite the handsome little man”, I said to him over breakfast.

“Yep Mommy…I am.” He agreed.

So on the way to preschool we stopped in a little clearing right inside our neighborhood.  It wasn’t planned.  I didn’t prep him.  I just pulled up.  He hopped out.  And we knocked out a little mini session in SEVEN minutes.  The light was glorious.  He kept climbing on top of the rocks and screaming…”I’M KING OF THE WORLD!!!”  And you know what….I believe him.
