hello out there!
Filed under: Uncategorized by Jenn
Wow. It has been a full week since I last posted. I’m usually much more chatty than that. I wonder what could have been keeping me from the blog? Oh…yes…the FOUR DAY stomach flu…that’s right!
Mr. P left Saturday on an international business trip and I came down with the flu a mere 24 hours into my stint as a single mom. At first I thought I was imagining things. Once would be bad enough. Twice is nearly unthinkable. But how about getting the stomach flu THREE TIMES IN A ROW while your husband is traveling? I think I have earned back every missed opportunity as “Mother of the Year” for enduring that
A few days into my sickness Super Sam came down with a nasty cold/sinus virus. And then Danny decided to join the fun, party all night, and produce a nasty ear infection. You need a hazmat suit to come within 10 miles of this house this week!
So here is a bit of a “Week in Review” as I try to crawl back into the real world. (Hey…I felt good enough for Starbucks this morning so things are definitely perking up!}
Lots of RANDOM tidbits to follow as I try to get my brain in drive again
Last Saturday we donned our gold and black and the “Honey Bees” buzzed around the field at their first soccer game.
Warming up…
Drawing out their play…HA! The coach was tying someone’s shoe
This is first grade after all!
A little pep talk…
“And which way is OUR goal???”
Break away!
Can someone call a foul?
sweaty happy mess
best buddies {mine would be the lobster child}
Overall a great start to the season. We only had to stop the game once due to an extra player on the field. Any guesses on who that might have been?
The house project is coming along nicely…although it has been the longest project in the history of house renovations. Here is a progress shot. New roof = check, new siding = check, new gutters = check, new front door color = check, newly painted hardware = check, new pots by the front door = check, and sand and stain the deck = check. As of this photo we still needed to paint the foundation (that is done now), add the rest of the shutters (on order), and install our new doorbell. It has been quite the ordeal. Thank heaven’s for INSURANCE is all I can say! More to come on some of the finishing touches and a few related projects.
Someone cute has been riding in my car
Super Sam starts preschool next week and was so excited to attend his “Meet the Teacher” this week. Unfortunately, he was not feeling well and his sleep deprived, feverish mother decided to take him to the event regardless. Not pretty people. I’ll spare you the details…but let’s just say it involved a lot of crying on the floor (him not me) and we have now been officially branded “that family”. I guess it was unavoidable…best to just get past the pretense right from the start, huh?
I had high hopes of getting back into WIWW this week. But what I wore Wednesday looked an awful lot like what I wore on Sunday, and Monday, and Tuesday. And it wasn’t pretty people. So here is my one lone shot undeserving of its own post.
stripy tee – J Crew Outlet (if you live in KC this just opened at The Legends and they also have Crewcuts! I didn’t get it locally though…did you know there is a factory store online open every weekend?)
slouchy jeans – Express (that’s what the tag says but I got them on the clearance rack at Marshalls)
sandals – DSW
necklace – Francesca’s (I bought this in turquoise and redish orange…score at $4 each!)
sunglasses – Target
The yellow door is my new happy place. It looks especially sunshiney here in this picture with the glaring sun!
One night this week I heard some noises coming from upstairs awhile after I put the kidlets to bed. I snuck up to see what was going on. After peeking into the girls room I silently crept away to fetch my camera. Proof that they do in fact love eachother!
So that’s our week in a nutshell. Mr. P is on his way home. We are all on the mend. Life is good once again!
