he definitely likes blondes.

On Saturday we took a day trip to Nebraska.  The Writer is back in school and couldn’t sneak away for our airport party…and just couldn’t wait a second longer to meet our sweet Ethiopian babe.  So we piled in the car for a short ride and met her part way at my parent’s house so she could see him in person!   Usually when we are all together we spend the time shopping and gabbing but this time we stuck close to home.  I didn’t want to take Daniel out on the town so we played and sat around chatting all day.  Perfection.  Daniel did amazingly well on our little mini-trip.  He didn’t cower behind his hands the entire time or shut down.  He was friendly but a little shy…and of course…totally the sweetest thing ever!

Several of my nieces came along to meet the little man too…and let me tell ya….Daniel LOVE blondes!  He was mesmerized by the long, gorgeous, blonde hair and couldn’t keep his hands off of it.  He was completely in love with his cousins and spent the entire afternoon cooing with them, showing them his newest tricks, and just flirting away!

He ate better there than he has EVER eaten here…and he took a killer nap.  It’s like my Mom’s super mothering powers were hard at work.  I wish she could transport those long distance so that they worked here too!  Daniel loved meeting The Writer as well.  He showed her how he liked to stick out his tongue and practiced his tribal language for her.   They were instant friends ;)

Everyone wanted to just scoop him up and carry him away…but they all behaved themselves very well ;)   It is hard to limit the holding and touching when you are with the people you love most…but we are confident that all the extra work at bonding and attaching will really help Daniel to feel secure in his new home.  We are SO thankful to finally have him home so that we can introduce him to everyone that has been longing to meet him!
