one more hour…

until my little one comes home from school and I am dying to hear about her day.  She was a nervous wreck this morning.  Her teacher emailed a few weeks ago suspecting she was needing glasses…and sure enough…we quickly made an apt. with the eye doctor and glasses were ordered (her vision was 20/80).  She wasn’t thrilled with the idea from the get go but her mood changed when I let her choose her glass frames all on her own.  She definitely had an idea of exactly what she wanted.  Pink. Check.  Purple.  Check.  All was well in the Brainiac’s world.  Until the glasses came from the lab and she actually had to WEAR them.  That’s when the tears started.

There have been LOTS of tears.  And not just from her.  Ms. Middle thinks NOT having glasses is the most unfair thing that has EVER happened to her.  And to prove her point she fudged her school eye exam on purpose!  She’s been walking around bumping into things and exclaiming, “see that STOP sign over there that says STOP…yeah I totally can’t read that!”

I walked The Brainiac  into class this morning to help relieve a bit of the pressure.  She was literally trembling walking behind me with anticipation over what the “kids would say”.  My mommy heart was tugging for her.  She’s so sensitive and all that attention was just killing her.  Her teacher spotted us along with about 6 of the girls in her class.  They immediately swarmed her with congratulatory praises…lots of “those are SO cool!” and “WOW…tie dye glasses…that’s the best!”  I left her still a bit teary and unsure.  Hoping she’s had a super great day (and that those glasses have stayed on all day!)

I think she’s just about the cutest thing in the world.  (I may be biased).  Will you give her some love?  When she gets home I’ll read the responses to her and make her feel super cool ;)

Those are the most amazing glasses ever! When Alexis got her glasses she also was upset…but not as upset as Kelsey who didn’t get any! She looks soooooo smart! Hugs and Kisses and a super wet zerbert for her! :)

Love the glasses! So many girls at my daughters school are wearing them – that now she wants a pair!!!! Glasses or no glasses, your girl is beautiful!

Anna, we love your glasses! My twin girls just saw your picture and said they thought your glasses were so beautiful. They are now asking when can they get glasses. :) I hope you had a wonderful day at school with all your friends. Growing up I always secretly wanted glasses myself. You are so lucky! And I bet it feels great to be able to so really well now too. Hi-fives from Miss Angel in MN and Emily and Allison.

Tristyn has sported her reading glasses for 2 years now and LOVES them! Hers are blue and purple tie dye and she’ll have to wear them next time you’re together so you can both steal the cutie spotlight!!! They look great on you.

  5. Oh, Anna~ you look BE-AU-TI-FUL!!! I got glasses when I was in the third grade, hot pink ones. I remember feeling nervous about wearing them at first but I got used to them pretty quickly and they helped me see so much better. Then all my friends wanted to get a pair too! So watch out, you may just start a trend! :)

My little girl, Grace saw your picture and said, “Ooooh, who’s that girl? She’s cool!”

She looks so beautiful! I’m so laughing about your middle, though! :) I have to admit, I was the same way when I got my glasses (I was 12, though)…I really did think it was the end of the world!

Love, love, love the glasses! My first glasses when I was a little girl were purple, too, though not nearly as cool as yours :)

  18. Natalie   –

Adorable! I bet all the other girls in her class want some now too. :-) She looks like a model in an ad for glasses to make all little girls buy these. Soooo cute!

Your new specs are way cool. They are the perfect color. And the best part is being able to see everything so clearly. No more blurry trees! : )

When I´ve showed that cute photo of your daughter wearing her fab glasses to my 5 year old daughter her comment was “Que guay” – we live in Spain so that would be something like How cool. So now I am sure that I´ve one at home who would like to have a pair of pink and purple glasses too!

LOVE the glasses – she looks beautiful as always! My middle one is dying for glasses, and does the same thing as J!! He’ll be like “yeah, I can’t read that letter A over there” etc… Kids!

  22. love   –

ridiculously cute! i love them. i have pink glasses very close to this. and chloe & anika even have fashion glasses like this just because they WANT to wear glasses so badly.
you are beautiful anna, inside & out!

  23. Jane   –

Oh wow they are gorgeous glasses – what an amazing little girl! I can see why her sister is so jealous!

  24. Julie   –

What a cutie! I started wearing glasses in the second grade and mine weren’t cute like that AT ALL! They were thick and brown…I wish I’d had fun pink & purple ones. Just make sure to wear them as much as the doctor says, I didn’t wear mine as often as I should have when I was young (and my vision is paying the price now as an adult!).

  25. Jill   –

    Jenn,

I just went through the same thing with our daughter Lilly! Our girls almost picked out the same glasses. Your daughter is PRECIOUS! She looks beautiful in them!

    Blessings and love,
    Jill
