It’s just one day a week.  But the house was awfully quiet.  I did 4 loads of laundry, primed a bookcase, edited photos, did some store returns, and took Miss Middle to violin lessons.  Quite productive.  But I still missed him.  Until we got home and he crawled off the toilet, locked the bathroom door, and pooped on the floor.  Yeah.  Then I was wishing for school tomorrow ;)

Here he is in his obligatory “in front of the church fountain” pose.  This is a MUST. I tried to get him to hold his cute elephant lunch box.  But he said it was heavy.  I’d have slung his cute new backpack over his shoulders except I forgot to buy him a cute backpack (realized that at 6:30 this morning) so he took a Macy’s tote bag.  It’s such a drag to be #3 ;)

This is me trying to get him to smile at the stranger woman who was nice enough to offer to take our photos together.

I have to say I was pretty proud of him.  He didn’t cry at all.  He was actually somewhat put out that I wouldn’t just “leave already” and finally just turned his back to me and walked over to the puzzle table.  So what did I do?  Follow him of course (and with camera in tow).

I have to brag a bit about his insanely serious Puzzle Skilz.  This kid has some sort of abnormal puzzle fixation.  He can whip out our alphabet puzzle in 30 seconds flat.  So I pulled out our USA map puzzle to stump him.  He just laughed at me and scrambled to put the states back in place as quickly as he could (and it was fast).  I think he’s gonna be a Puzzler.  Too bad that’s not an Olympic sport.  Or a lucrative job.

Watch out little man.  Tomorrow I’m bringing out the 500 piece ocean life jigsaw and I’m gonna show you how it’s done.

Happy School little buddy.

I have to start off with an apology for the sad state of my pathetic blog this past week.  Between 12-15 hour Matilda Jane working days, visiting in-laws (THANKS for all your help), potty training,
house projects, school work, soccer practices, violin lessons, and photo sessions (I promise to get back to sharing some of these soon)…things have been WILD at the Cooper house!

But that is no excuse for a lame-o blog so I will definitely try to be less lame in the weeks to come.

So here’s something fun.  I spent the weekend in good ‘ol Des Moines, IA at my cousin’s wedding.  The Writer, The Librarian, and I met my parents there sans the rest of our families.
Just like old times.  Before there were a hundred little people requiring our attention.  My cousin is a CRAZY fun kind of gal and her wedding didn’t disappoint in the creativity department.
The best part was the PHOTO BOOTH.  And seeing my Dad dance to “Ice, Ice Baby”…but that is a whole different post.

First my sisters and I tried out the booth.  But our timing was all off (it takes some practice people…photo booths are NOT for dummies)

1.  Aren’t we cute?

2. Gangstas

3.  We were going for a kissing pose but I “released” the pose to early and The Writer just looks like she has lost her marbles.

Then we roped my poor mom into our shenanigans:

1. Trying the Gangster pose again (although my Mom looks like she is chaneling her inner love child)

2.  Blowin’ kisses (we all nailed this one don’t  you think?)

3.  Mug shots.  Wouldn’t want to meet us in a dark alley would you?

All in all it was a great weekend.  I am so fortunate to have a wonderful family, sisters who are my VERY best friends, and the sweetest husband who will
spend the weekend corralling my own littles so I can go gallivanting around Iowa acting like a lunatic.  I woke up sore this morning from our wild dancing (can anyone say “chicken dance”???)
and needing extra tums from the the buffet…but my heart was full.  And that is a wonderful feeling.
