ISO: your junk.
I had an unexpected call this evening from my case worker that set my heart into triple beats. It wasn’t our referral…but anytime my caller id shows a 917 number I must admit I start to hyperventilate. We are getting close…not next…but close non-the-less. Which brings me to the reason I want your junk.
We’ve debated back and forth throughout this process about the pros and cons of fund raising for the adoption. But my pride has always one out and I’ve found other avenues for raising the funds necessary to pay the randsom for our son. If I wasn’t a complete graphics moron I would design a ridiculously cute t-shirt to sell (my sister did that…you can support their adoption of their Peruvian Princess HERE). If I had any sense in the kitchen I’d host a smashing bake sale. If I wasn’t such a wimp I’d offer to mow your lawn. Instead I’ve used my photography business to pay our fees and supplemented with my dwindling Etsy shop. But we are chosing to lay our pride aside and allow others to be a part of this amazing journey.
But I do love junk. Junk I know (mostly because I have a house full of it). So on FRIDAY, JULY 9TH and SATURDAY, JULY 10TH we will be hosting an ADOPTION GARAGE SALE to try to raise the funds for our first trip to Ethiopia for our court date. I’ve had so many people ask “what can we do to help”. And honestly…just knowing that we have the support of friends and family in this journey is more than enough. But if you’ve got some stuff to get rid of…bring it on over…the more junk the better 
I’ve started the piles already and there shouldn’t be a shortage of fun stuff…furniture, house decor, fabrics, vintage pieces, photography props, etc. Would you consider donating your junk to our sale? Do you have folding tables we could borrow? Would you drop by and browse my junk? Would you come by just to say “hi” (if you do…can you bring me a cherry limeade from Sonic…oh…and one for my sister who is a saint and is coming to help me with the sale)?

We are trying to steer away from clothing as it rarely sells but would love furniture, knick knacks, gardening items, house hold items, toys, books, or anything else in good repair you can’t seem to find a use for And no…you can’t drop off your husband

Our garage sale was such a success and we had so much stuff left over that we did it again a few weeks later! Here’s to hoping the same for yours!
this made me tear up. it is hard to let others bless you. how often we forget how much it blesses them, too.
our adoption garage sale was honestly one of the most humbling, amazing experiences on our journey. i would just stop and look around at all our small group couples helping organize and work the sale, the people that donated their stuff and their baked goods, the clean up crew and EVERYTHING and it was amazing. it also was our best fundraiser….almost $6,000. amazing what God can do when we allow Him to.
like i said, we did a bake sale with it and we also asked each person at check out if they’d like to enter $1 to win a $25 target gift card. most people did and just wrote their name and phone number down. i think we made $300 from that alone!!! =)

If I can get organized, I will drop some items off. I do have junk! I’m heading out of town over the holiday weekend and am bringing back a niece (in addition to my own children) so it will be busy but I think I have a few items I can get over to you. GOOD LUCK!

Ok, I am totally coming and bringing the cherry limeades!!!!! I’ve commented on your blog before, but it’s been awhile. I live in Wichita and I just saw that you came here for the 4th!! So cool! I started following when Kristi J featured your blog. We used Adoption and Beyond for our home study too (so you can ask Steffany about us). I am in KC all the time for my sales job and so excited to ‘know’ another Kansas family adopting from Ethiopia (we are next up for a baby boy referral-maybe THIS week?). Yesterday, we had our first “Ethiopian Fellowship”, we know one family that brought home their baby boy 3 months ago and another family that travels at the end of July. Anyway, I would love to just come by and say hi! If you don’t mind that a crazy person from Wichita, that you’ve never met, that follows your blog, that wants to brings limeades to you and your sister – comes by… then I’d love to have your address! =) (And I’m sure I’ll be buying something too, I know you have GREAT junk!!!) -Brenda (reg limeades not diet, right?)
Oh darn…I just had a garage sale last weekend and what didn’t go for the most part…I was so over it, I took it up the street to a church donation bin! Wasn’t on the ol’ computer much last week due to my own “moving sale”. I’d love to shop your sale though!
