forget it :)
I’ve tried no less than 5 times to sit down and write a 10 on Tuesday post (although it is now dangerously close to Friday) to no avail.
So shall we just do 5 on Friday and call it good?
1. I.am.not.cut.out.for.single.parenthood.
2. I only made it 6 days without buying something for one of my kids. Fortunately, someone was looking out for me and it didn’t fit and has to be returned (am I pathetic or what?) But in my defense…who knew that Costo would have adorable HANNA ANDERSSON dresses?
3. I worked a bit on the over-the-bed project for the girls this week. I had fun trying to come up with something cute that wouldn’t cost much money. I will probably add to their collages as time goes on but I think I have a good start. I will take some finished product shots in a few days when the beds are painted and back in place!
Here is J’s collage: I pulled some frames from my attic and spray painted them all off-white (some were black and others various metallic finishes). The matted frame was from Goodwill and it even came with that mat (and a lovely angel rendition which I gawked at for a few minutes and then promptly trashed). The “J” was black too…I had plans at one point to put the kids’ initials in their playroom and then never got around to it. I found the perfect shade of pink spray paint at Jo-Anns Etc. The green polka dot mat is from Pottery Barn. I’ve had them for months. When we were building the playroom I went overboard purchasing cute things for the walls of the room…only to realize after it was completed that there really aren’t walls
These mats sat in my car for 4 months waiting to be returned. Good thing I never got around to taking them back! Finally…a few embroidery hoops with some cute fabric. I had planned to applique a little owl but found a CHEAP owl iron on and then spent the afternoon blog hopping instead of sewing
All in all…the entire project only cost me about $20 for both beds.

Here is A’s version:

4. I am completely blown away by the generosity of ALL OF YOU who have purchased from my ETSY STORE!! I’ll be working this weekend to get it re-stocked! Your goodies should be in the mail soon!
5. My little man is OBSESSED with a plastic stethoscope. It is so very strange. I really shouldn’t be surprised. My nephews wore plastic buckets on their heads for years (the weirdness must be hereditary). I’m not joking when I say that he wears it ALL.THE.TIME. He wears it at breakfast, in the car, reading books…sometimes he puts on the blood pressure cuff as well although that is not mandatory. I was running errands yesterday and looked down at his sweet little hand in mine at the store and noticed that he had even made it out in PUBLIC with that darn thing on his neck. I am SO one of “those mothers”
Exhibit A: On our way out the door

EXHIBIT B: roaming the house with his blankie

EXHIBIT C: Chillaxin with a good book

EXHIBIT D: His two true loves

Maybe he’ll outgrow it? Or maybe he’ll pay for my assisted living someday with his private practice?
HAPPY FRIDAY FOLKS! Don’t know about you but I am really craving some WEEKEND!
Happy Friday to you too Jenn!!!
First of all, your little man is WAY too cute for words!! Serious doll face there!! He seems so happy and sweet!! Love it!
And what you did above the girls’ beds? Love that too!! A friend and I were talking awhile back about those hoops and putting fabric in them – but there is no room in Gentry’s room for that kind of thing!! Sooo…when we move and redo her room, maybe I’ll get all crafty and whip up some happiness!
Love your creative eye!!
I think that the girls’ over-the-bed stuff is adorable. You did a great job! I am loving the Sam pics. My little man is a thumb-sucker and I just think it’s the cutest thing. And I was a blankie girl. So I have a soft spot for little ones who love their blankies!
J,
I think the “5 of Friday” post was just as much fun. I love what you did on the wall over the beds – great job. And the Little Man in the stethescope? I can’t even take how CUTE he is! He is definitely giving the idea of “boy” some MAJOR appeal.
Love the collages over the beds! I started doing “Seven on Sunday” that way I have a few days to work on it.
I thought of your girls room when I saw these pillows. : )

What a great idea to put material in the embroidery hoops! I may have to do that:)
Hi Jenn~Love the five on Friday! I too buckled at the Hanna Anderersson dresses at Costco…c’mon $14, you can’t beat it! My 4 year old has been wearing it over and over with her MJ leggings. The over the bed decorating is adorable. I’m working on a little collage for my girls’ room right now too…thanks for the inspiration! Also, my Sam(who is 10 now) used to wear a tupperware bucket on his head and Harry Potter glasses everywhere. Thankfully he grew out of that one:) PS Sheila Rae’s Peppermint Stick is one of our favorite books! Happy Weekend!
Wow, Hannah Anderson dresses at Costco?? It’s probably a good thing that we don’t have one anywhere near here! Love what you did over the girls’ beds!
The girls room is looking great! I love your “eye” for design. My Sam has a similar infatuation, but with his shoes. He carries them everywhere.
I love what you did in your girls’ room!…and for only $20 is amazing! Your little man is adorable…future doctor for sure!
