back to the grindstone

But we had a FABULOUS little mini getaway!  We were definitely needing a little Cooper family fun.  It was SO nice to enjoy the holiday with our family without email, editing, or adoption paperwork (yeah right…like I was going to waste 6 hours of car travel without our adoption notebook!)

I set my camera to AUTO and just snapped away capturing all of our fun.  It was so nice to not worry about the angle of the sun, the background, or my camera settings.  And although the photos aren’t technically amazing…the kids in them sure are :)

SO here we go….

J on her first day back to school after being out a week with H1N1 (we think).  She was SO EXCITED that she didn’t have to miss her Halloween parade.  Here she is rounding the corner!

Her whole class.  Four year olds are so funny.  Notice that really no one is looking at the camera!  Except J’s crush who is standing next to her…she says he is her boyfriend :)

Later that day we went up to the elementary school for A’s parade and class party.  Here’s our BIG baby with her best baby buddy :)

She is SO into babies right now…too funny!  Talk about a cheap costume…loved that!

Friday night we headed to Nebraska…it was a late night driving but so worth it to wake up Saturday and have the whole day ahead of us for family fun!  After lunch we headed to Roca Berry Farms!  My kids are OBSESSED with gourds.  It is so weird.  I have no idea what caused the obsession.  But gourds have become a big deal at the Cooper house with the girls.  It looks like Sam is saying “so what’s the big deal?”

J heading to the princess castle….she could barely contain herself!

LOVE this picture for so many reasons!  Sam LOVES slides.  He will go down ANY slide no matter how steep as long as A is at the bottom to catch him!

Crazy sunflare…I guess my auto setting doesn’t know how to handle that!  But her smile is SO sweet!

Not a big fan of the hay….

Cute squinty smiles in the bright October sun.  LOVE these crazy girls…and I love how much they love each other.  They spent the ENTIRE trip playing so nicely together.

All aboard!

The girls FAVORITE activity!  All the inflatables!

Little man chilling with his Baboo.  Notice my Dad is a photography buff too.  He got some great shots of the kids as well that I need to download and share!

A and her faces…poor little prison girl.  Someone will come unlock you soon…don’t worry!

Daddy and little man trying out the trikes.  It amazes me how agile Sam is…he is in CONSTANT motion!

An attempted shot at all three kiddos.  And I call myself a photographer…geesh!  Why will other kids look at me and my own won’t?  I guess they’ve heard all my jokes.

My little lion on Halloween night before the Trick or Treating expedition.  I had GRAND ideas about taking him out for a little photo shoot but he was WAY TOO EXCITED to stand still for me.  I think just the mention of candy put him into a SUGAR rush!

This one would have been so cute if he wasn’t a blur :)

Another attempt at dusk of all three.  Not enough light, not enough attention span…and too much excited to hit the streets make for a BAD photo experience :)

DSC_0212-1

Ringing his first door bell ever!  Our little man was QUITE the trick or treat trooper!  He stayed out the entire time and filled his entire bucket full of candy (yeah for me!)  As soon as the door would open up he walked straight up to the people and babbled away.  They would put some candy in his bucket and then he would just stand there grinning at them until they added more.  Too funny!  I think he came back with twice as many goodies as the girls!

One last attempt at a photo of all three of my sweet babies.  We took this right before church on Sunday…they were all looking so cute!  And then my flash died!  So I tried to doctor this up in photoshop a bit but it is still blurry and a bit funky looking…I couldn’t really save it…but they are still all looking so sweet :)

Hope you all had a SPOOKY HALLOWEEN!

I’ll be back to the regularly scheduled session sneak peaks soon!

    Jenn,

First, good for you for taking some time off to “just be.” You have such a beautiful family – I’m glad you were able to really enjoy them this weekend! Next, glad your Miss is feeling better & didn’t miss her class party. They all look adorable in their costumes! And third, I think Sam is the SWEETEST lion I have EVER seen! Thanks for sharing your fun family weekend!

  2. Looks like you all had a wonderful, much needed, week-end getaway. Thanks for sharing your fun week-end with us. Glad J is doing better, I’m just getting over H1N1 myself.

First, before I forget – do you know how much I luv that your comments section “remembers me” so I don’t have to add my info over and over again :) – ha, ha, ha…it’s the little things for me! Okay, onto the real message – SO glad you took a weekend to just be. Well deserved for sure! Love all the family photos and how happy the kiddos look. Such a cute little lion too!

I’m a new reader to your blog and a fellow photographer and I just had to say that I totally relate to the “I’m a photographer and I can’t take a decent picture of my own kids all together” problem. I have 3 kids very close in ages to yours…and I have 2 older girls and a little boy too (5 -almost 6, 4, and 1) – its the biggest frustration to me. Maybe its equally frustrating to them that I continue to try.
