10 (updates on our new addition) on Tuesday
1. Remember my dream home? Still a bit sad that we didn’t get it. But God had a different plan.

2. We used my “hardwood fund” (intended for my dream house) to build the play room for the girls. I’m in love with this room. Money well spent I think!
3. About a month ago we got several bids on putting a sun room/photography studio addition on the back of our house.
4. We started searching for financing options for our house addition…getting excited about having a bit more space and a special photography spot in my house!
5. I started decorating the space in my head…pouring over magazines and catalogs…envisioning Charlotte perched nicely in front of a wall of windows. But something wasn’t quite right. We couldn’t take the plunge?!?
6. I started spending countless nights on the computer researching. Reading blogs. Following the stories of people’s lives. Reading how their “additions” changed their families forever. I started thinking…
7. I grilled my sister “The Librarian” on her journey so far. Asking a billion questions like “how did you know it was time to add on?” and “where are you going to get the money?” and “will you have enough space (in your heart)?” My priorities were shifting…

8. THIS woman and THIS woman and THIS woman talked to me about their precious additions. And we knew.
9. God has been preparing our hearts for an addition for a long time. We are finally making it a reality (and I’m not talking home renovation here people!)
10. Our newest addition will come in the form of a sweet Ethiopian baby…sometime this next year. MY HEART IS FULL!!!!!!!
(more to come I promise!)
Oh Jenn!!! That is amazing and beautiful and I am soo excited for you!! I am a little weepy for you, you are an amazing woman!
Jenn-
I have chills! You have the biggest heart….evident in the sweet family you have created. I am so excited to hear all about your journey and your sweet ending! God does work in miraculous ways, doesn’t He?
Thank you so much for letting us know so we can keep these plans in our hearts and prayers! BTW, your home is beautiful! How are you feeling these days?
Wow, I have always found it amazing that some things do not work out the way we want it to and then sometime down the road we realize why. I have had it set in my heart since I was about 10 that if I can adopt one day, I will do so. Of course I am only 22 and I’m not even married yet, but I LOVE hearing about adoptions. Congratulations
What a happy moment for you and your family!!!!
How wonderful! One of my favorite quotes from one of my church leaders came to mind when I read this…”When faith replaces doubt, when selfless service eliminates selfish striving, the power of God brings to pass His purposes.” How very proud your Heavenly Father must be of you. Good luck, and I hope to meet your new addition!!!
Congratulations on your exciting news!!! It was fun to see a link from someone close to home on LL’s blog! I just had to say hi! I am in kc weekly for my sales job, but live in Wichita. Just finished home study with Adoption & Beyond in OP. I am excited to hear if you have decided on an agency:) I walked into the Einstein Bros Bagels last week on 135th & Antioch and met a family that adopted from Ethiopia, it was an incredible moment for me as later I realized that it was the first time I had ever seen a little Ethiopian in “real” life (not just in blog world, THAT’S why I was so emotional!!). This family knew quite a few families in the area that were on the same journey. Very exciting. Your work is captivating! I will be checking in for updates! Thanks for sharing your story. -b
YEAH! This is wonderful news. We have discussed this and I know it’s been in your heart for some time. I’m excited to hear about this new journey.
That is wonderful news! I have been keeping up with this blog for sometime now, I think you would like to check it out to see her cutie she brought back from Africa. http://apollosgal.blogspot.com/
Jenn! Congratulations! What wonderful news. I look forward to following your journey and eventually meeting your sweet baby! You are one awesome mama – some baby is going to be very blessed!
I would love to know how you went about it. My husband and I have talked about adoption, and it has always held a special place in my heart since I am an adopted child. I can’t figure out how people get the money to do it. I would love to hear your story!
Jenn, how wonderful! Knowing what I do from reading you over the years, no child could ask for a more joyful and loving family. So happy for you!
Thank you for the amazing comment you left on my blog! I have played with the idea of making my blog private, but your comment is why I’m letting others read my story. I am so excited for you and your journey to Ethiopia! It’s a wild ride that is 100% worth it! I will be following your journey!
OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!
How wonderful & amazing!
That is so awesome! I dream of doing that someday. My DH doesn’t share that dream right now, but I’m trying to trust that if God wants us to add to our family, it’s His job to change my DH’s heart. I’m so excited for you!
Oh, my Jenn!!!!! We’ve been gone on a trip for a couple of days and here I am catching up and I read your WONDERFUL NEWS!!!!! I’m teary eyed and overjoyed for you. This little one is already blessed to be gaining such a wonderful mama and to be joining such a sweet family. I’ve always wanted to adopt a little girl from China, my hubby’s heart leans more toward Ethiopia. Praying God will lead us where he wants us to go. There’s an old Chinese proverb that goes something like this…”An invisible red thread connects those destined to meet, regardless of time, place or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but never breaks.” Praying God’s blessings over your journey of love. I can’t imagine a better “addition”
Your new addition will be welcomed into such a warm loving family unit. I have thought about adoption since I was 16 (20 years ago….yikes) after watching a programme about Chinese baby girls being abandonded. There isn’t so much focus on adopting from abroad in the UK, but it is still something I would love to do! I wish you all the love and luck in the world……..Claire x
Congratulations to the whole family!!! I’m sure the girls are THRILLED!
CONGRATULATION !!!
